Bump It Forward – Helping African Health Care Workers Access COVID-19 Vaccines
Throughout March and April we will be donating 50p from every retail bag sold to Bump It Forward. This initiative, started by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is raising funds to ensure health care workers in Africa can access the COVID-19 vaccine.
There are an overwhelming amount of worthwhile and desperately needed causes to donate to, especially right now when so many here in the UK and all over the world are in desperate need. We chose to support #BumpItForward because it really strikes a chord with us. Both Alex and I have many healthcare workers in our families and we’re fortunate enough that most of them have now been vaccinated. My step-dad is a GP and shared the #BumpItForward campaign on facebook, he mentioned it being an act of professional solidarity for healthcare workers here in the UK who can afford it, to help out their African colleagues. I love this sentiment and we feel the same way about the coffee growing communities we source our green beans from so this is our small act of solidarity with African coffee growers who may well be users of health services put under terrible strain by COVID-19.
