Coffee Growers
Baristocracy is just one of a network of small businesses, supporting each other, all over the world. Our business wouldn't exist without the small holders, family farms and cooperatives who work so hard, in a difficult and changing environment, to grow exceptional speciality coffees. Importers are the crucial link between us and the farmers we buy coffee from. Working with importers who genuinely support growing communities is vital to our business. Read on to learn about the people who grow the coffees we're so lucky to enjoy:
Colombia
Colombia, along with many South and Central American countries, has become synonymous with coffee. We know that there is plenty of high quality, delicious coffee grown in Colombia but what sets this coffee apart from others is not only how flavoursome it is, but who grows it.
Ethiopia
Ethiopia has pretty much legendary status in the speciality coffee world as the birthplace of arabica coffee. Unlike many other growing regions where coffee was introduced as a commodity crop, in Ethiopia arabica grows wild and in gardens.
Kenya
Kenya is one of the latest countries to grow coffee, some 300 years after the plant was first cultivated for sale. Coffee was originally planted in Kenya while it was still under British occupation.
Blend
Why blend? Why not leave beautiful single origins to shine? Well, by mixing two or more singles together we can create depth, layer up complimentary flavours and design a coffee that is super versatile
Uganda
Oh, this coffee. Picking a favourite coffee is like picking your favourite song, it depends on what is happening when you listen to it or how you want to feel. However, this coffee is just so special.
Mexico
This coffee is one of the few that we buy from a single farm. Luis Ordonez has worked his land for over 25 years, cultivating more than a dozen varietals and focusing on exceptional quality.
